Hi-dilly-ho my little Blogarinos...

Two days in a row! I must be eating my Wheaties or something. What's shakin? The wedding/honeymoon pictures are at Wal-Mart being born so I'll see if any are worthy of posting. If so, you'll see a couple up here (the G-rated ones anyway).

I've been on a search lately for new, interesting music...okay, I say lately but I'm pretty much ALWAYS looking. Anyway, I picked up a couple CDs recently and some of them deserve mention. I've been really stuck on the British bands lately. My opinion is that new american pop-rock is tired and very repetative (thanks in most part to the record industry nightmare).

Probably my favorite out of the bunch is Absolution by a band called Muse. If you liked Radiohead during the Pablo Honey/The Bends Era, you'll LOVE these guys. They're like Radiohead with a side of beef thrown in for good measure. My favorite tracks on the album are Stockholm Syndrome and Time Is Running Out.

Keane's album "Hopes And Fears" is a beautiful collection of songs. Kinda reminds me of Coldplay without the guitar. The band is basically a drummer, a piano, and a singer....that album is good from start to finish. Very good mellow album. "Bedshaped" is my fav on that CD.

Now I know I said that American Rock is dead...tired...repetative. But every once in a while something interesting manages to blast through the muck of the screaming angst-ridden-but-I-don't-know-why bands. Taking Back Sunday's "Where You Want To Be" is a great emo-ish album. It has the energy and hooks that keep it sounding modern. But the album is not slacking on good, ol' fashioned song writing.

Finally, and at the top of my list, is another American singer/songwriter. Gavin DeGraw's album "Chariot" (released on J Records) is no less than phenominal. I repeat....PHEEE... NOM... MINN... ALLLL. The songwriting is super. Gavin's voice is unique and immediately identifiable. Go to his website (www.gavindegraw.com) and check the sampled tunes for yourself. Then go buy it. Don't burn it...don't steal it....give this guy a couple of your dollars.

Okay, now its your turn. What are you listening to? (Jess, we all know you're listening to Josh Groban....YOU NEED HELP FER CRYIN" OUT LOUD!!! hahaha...)

Alter Bridge - One Day Remains (AWESOME ALBUM!!! The songs are even more amazing live!!!)

Rich Robinson (X-Black Crowes brother) - Paper (A SUPER solo effort by Rich. Oh and ditto on the live show!!!)

Ian Moore - Luminaria (live show on Oct 9th! haha)

In the next week I plan to own the new Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band CD (Kenny on vocals!!) and the new Joss Stone.

Wow Wit, can you believe it, not ONE hairband in the whole bunch?! :)~

ALL HAIL THE MUSICAL GOD THAT IS JOSH GROBAN! Alright I know he's not for everyone, but if you have an open mind, you should listen to him. Anyway, I have discovered some other really cool people. There's a girl named Mindy Smith. She's got a very beautiful haunting song called, One Moment More. Also, I recently discovered, and hold onto your seat Scott, Jeff Buckley. I love Hallelujah and am planning on buying Grace. I have been trying in vain to find Finger Eleven's song to buy off of Itunes, but am having no luck. There's also another girl called Rachel Yamagata with a song called NOthing Left To Lose. And for anyone who's been living under a rock, the soundtrack to Garden State is well worth the money. So's the movie if you haven't yet seen it. It's written, directed and stars Zach Braff, from Scrubs. He actually lives near me so I plan on stalking him later today. But check some of those songs out and if you don't have itunes, well worth the download. If you like angry in your face take no prisoners music, give Toby Keith a try. He makes no apologies for what he believes and sings about. Gotta admire a guy that pisses off a Dixie Chick. But apparently it doesn't take much.

Jess

PS Again, All Hail Josh Groban!!

For anyone who doesn't know, Josh Groban is the guy who sang the song that my mom and brother felt each other up to at the wedding.

hmm what am i listening to... i get stuck on a band and stay there for quite a long time.. but id be repeating myself if i went on the same old maroon 5 kick.. i still love alot of aussie bands that i was introduced to when i was there.. some of them being Jebediah, The Whitlams (not witlams! LOL..) it would be worth it for you guys to search a song called No Aphrodisiac.. its haunting .. and I still love The Living End. there a kinda punk that uses mostly un upright bass so thats cool..

also as most of you know my husband is a drummer that in recent years has given up playing out.. but I have confiscated his old cd's full of mixtures of cover songs from when he was in Searching For Gladys and i am HOOKED on 2 of the songs that they used to do.. I dont have a clue who does them (it would actually be nice to know hint) they are "Charlie Brown's Parents" and "The King of New Orleans" theres just something about them that I dig and find sexay.. not that i guess they were meant to be.. but anyways.. thats my 2 cents..
